Video of the Week 23 Dec. 2010: Chris Michalek, RIP
Chris Michalek, a dedicated harmonica artist, died last week unexpectedly and too young. (Which is the case for most of us, I guess.) This video shows Chris playing with a solid band, without his usual battery of effects, all the better to hear his beautiful tone and vibrato.
RIP Chris.

I was not aware of Chris’ misical fame til after. He was an avid and proficient schutzhund dog trainer, also, and worked 5-6 days per week with his Rottweiler, and belgian Malinois, Zeeko, who he had just gotten his BH level degree with 2 weeks earlier. Chris was a very kind and special person.
Chris was on of my main influences in approach to tone, improvising, phrasing and music. RIP. So pitty he didn’t record his best stuff.
