Over a year ago I announced that I’d put a new piece up on Broadjam featuring my brother Mark on slide guitar, called “Ridin Blues.”  That piece was done in a hurry as a spec piece, and I’ve just put a new version up on Broadjam with completely redone harp and drums and a new mix.  Give it a listen at:

(Go to the URL and scroll down the page until you see it — won’t take long.)

The harp on this piece was recorded with my new go-to harp recording rig: a Line6 Toneport UX2 audio interface, and Line6’s Gold Pack amp modeling bundle.  This setup gives me access to 70-plus amp and cabinet models, plus a boatload of effects.  Besides that, I can record a clean track and an amp modeled track simultaneously, and go back to apply an amp/cabinet/effects model to either track later if I like.  It’s as close as you can get to an unlimited harp recording setup for about $350 total.

I used an Audix Fireball mic with V element, and the amp model for this piece is a Fender Bassman with 4×10 cabinet.  It cuts pretty good.

Hey, check it out.  Like I said, it cuts pretty good.
