Peter “Madcat” Ruth has been one of our favorite harp players since we heard his groundbreaking hard-rockin’ work with Sky King back in the 1960s. Madcat has plenty of blues in him, and this full-length set recorded August 12 2014 shows what he can do when he’s got a good band and time to strech out.

You can see Madcat’s Peavey Transformer 112–a very nice modeling amp, one of which I bought after I heard the sounds Peter got out of it on his “Harmonica and Ukelele Project” CD–in the frame on occasion, and he’s using a Shaker Madcat harmonica mic. Nice sounds.

One of the modern masters at work. What more do you want? Dig.
